Admittedly I'm the worst at buying staples when I'm out shopping. I'm always drawn to lots of color and details, which means mixing and matching is very tricky in my closet! This year I'm trying to add great staples to my closet so that putting together outfits is extra easy. I'm eying these staples for fall!
1. High Quality Jeans
I'm always up for investing to two things--great jeans and jackets! They last forever and never go out of style. As we head into fall I'm grabbing a few pairs of jeans that fit my post-partum body. Madewell is a go-to for jeans and the price and style of these mom jeans can't be beat. If you have some curves like me, I'm also obsessed with Anthropologie's in-house jean brand, Pilcro. This pair of boyfriend jeans is great for dressing up or down.
2. Polished Jacket
A great jacket for layering is a must-have for fall. Adding a great jacket to any outfit definitely elevates the style and gives you that extra layer for fall. This draped jacket is so easy and will never go out of style. Great over a top or dress! If you're looking for something trendier (but still classic!) reach for this Shop One/Third (another woman owned start-up!) blazer.
3. Classic Tee
This one seems so obvious, but there are so many times I go to grab a white tee and don't have one! Why?!?! I personally love this easy and cheap tee from Target. Toss this tee on with jeans a jacket for an effortless look that will get lots of compliments!
4. White Sneakers
I swear by a great pair of sneakers! A lot of people think they can't pull them off, but everyone can! Trust me. If you follow us on social media you know I'm aggressively obsessed with p448 sneakers. This pair of white snakeskin sneakers will match everything, but make every outfit stand out. For something more classic, grab these Cole Haan Sneakers. Don't forget sneakers are great with jeans OR dresses!
5. Mix and Match Booties
A brown pair of booties are a must-have for fall. They're perfect for dressing up or down and go with literally everything. Madewell has amazing leather goods and these booties are no exception. These Target suede booties are a great budget option. If you're going with a budget option I always opt for the snakeskin or suede options because the faux leather sometimes look cheap in real life.
6. Gorgeous Sweater
When in doubt, always go for the classic cream sweater! Again, great for dressing up or down, can be layered, and never goes out of style. J.Crew always has great options. This classic-fit cashmere sweater is a great investment! This Nordstrom funnel neck sweater is a great price and would be so chic with the pair of boyfriend jeans from above!
7. Leather Tote
I'm going to default back to Madewell for this one too. Their leather goods are just so so pretty. Their Transport Tote is chic while also so practical. If you're a mom on the go, this Freshly Picked Belt Bag is a great option too.
8. Great Leggings
And last bust certainly not least, LEGGINGS! And there is really only one holy grail leggings for dressing up and down and that's Spanx! I love their Faux Leather Leggings for tossing on with sneakers for running errands or on with heeled booties for a dinner out.
